STYLE & FASHION

Fashion and style are often confused, sometimes equated, yet rarely truly distinguished. Both belong to life, yet their nature could hardly be more different.

Fashion is zeitgeist shaped into form. It is the visible pulse of an era, the shared language of a moment. Fashion thrives on renewal, on breaking with what came before, on the pleasure of change. It is experimental, playful, at times radical. Fashion allows for belonging and distinction at once. It connects people through common codes – and still permits them to reinvent themselves.

Yet fashion is fleeting. Not because it is superficial, but because it beats in time with the age. What holds true today becomes history tomorrow. That is no weakness – it is its very essence.

Style, on the other hand, is timeless – not because it escapes time, but because it does not depend on it. Style does not arise from the outside, but from within. It is the consistent translation of an attitude into visible form. While fashion is carried by the collective, style is shaped by the individual.

Fashion asks: What is now? Style asks: Who am I?

Fashion can be an expression – style is expression. Fashion signals belonging; style reveals identity. Fashion communicates outward; style communicates from within.

This does not mean that style is superior to fashion. Both have their legitimacy, their strength, their beauty. Fashion inspires, provokes, renews. It keeps cultures alive and societies in motion. Style provides orientation, clarity, constancy. It creates recognition and trust.

Yet while fashion is an offer one may accept or decline, style is a decision one makes – and then embodies. Fashion changes with the seasons; style evolves with the person. Fashion ages, style matures.

Those who use fashion to cultivate style unite the transient with the lasting. Those who mistake fashion for style remain on the surface.

In the end, fashion is what makes an era visible. Style is what makes a person recognisable. Both have their place – but only one endures.
